I thought Tourist History played around with the styles and tempos a little too much. Indie-rock trio Two Door Cinema Club’s 2010 debut had all the makings of a pop-perfect album each song was a pleasant combination of clear, upbeat. What I especially love about Beacon is that it seems more like Two Door Cinema Club had a solid idea of what they wanted to do with the album. Tourist History is a tough act to follow. The band travelled to Los Angeles, California to record the album with acclaimed producer Jackknife Lee (Bloc Party. 2012 sophomore album from the British Indie outfit, the follow-up to their hugely successful debut album, Tourist History. Handshake is just as up tempo and catchy, but doesn’t take a rest like in Next Year which gives it a slightly different feel. Price: P2100 LABEL: Glassnote UPC: 892038002572 RELEASE DATE. In terms of quality Next Year sets the bar very high for the rest of the album, with Trimble’s ever-stellar voice, and a generally very up-tempo, catchy sound (with a light break thrown in) this is one of the best songs on the album.
Although I question the placing of Next Year as the first track on the album with lyrics such as “I’ll be home for next year” it almost feels as if they are saying goodbye until next time (or album). They got a clean, danceable sound that sounds like it was less inspired by Avicii and more by Alternative Dance and Dance-Punk. Beacon starts with what has become one of my favorite tracks on the album, Next Year. Two Door Cinema Club sound almost like they should be one of the main pop acts of this age, up there with Maroon 5.
